Yogasutras of Pantanjali
Thursdays, February 2 - March 15   6:00-7:15 pm   No class Feb 23. $75 + GST
Sometimes a practice manual for Ashtanga yoga, sometimes an exposition on psychology and metaphysics, the Yogasutra of Patanjali is the foundational text for one of six schools of classical Indian philosophy.  In this 6 week course, we will explore the first chapter of the text by chanting some sutras in their original Sanskrit, reading English translations, and discussing different interpretations of the text.
Alana will be teaching this course.

Developing a Daily Meditation Practice
Sunday, Feb 12  1:30-3:30 pm $45 + GST.
There are many obstacles to overcome when beginning or maintaining a daily meditation practice. In this workshop we will address some of them including; the importance of posture, staying consistent with practice, how to meditate at home and when away from home. We will discuss the benefits of meditation and learn and practice, or be refreshed on, a simple breath awareness practice. There will be ample time for questions. This workshop is suitable for all levels of yoga student, including teachers, from all schools of yoga. Jonathan will be teaching this class.

An Ayurvedic Approach to Taste
Sunday, January 29 1:00-3:00 pm $45 + GST
Ayurveda is the traditional Indian approach towards health and healing. In this course we will continue our study of the Ayurvedic diet. There will be a short review of the fundamental principles covered in the previous workshop and then a deeper look at the science of the six tastes: their actions on the doshas, their effects on the emotions and organs and appropriate methods of taste combination. Personal Development Program

Overview

The Winnipeg Yoga Shala Yoga Teacher Training/ Personal Development Program will, over the course of eight months, immerse students in the practice, philosophy and theory of yoga. The program places strong emphasis on practice and observation as the primary sources for teaching yoga and personal development.

This training is a comprehensive program in the study and practice of the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga method. Students will gain practical knowledge and experience of the process of yoga and the skills required to guide others on their yogic journey. All contact hours are with Jonathan Austman.

*Mysore Practice: During the program attending 3 Mysore classes and
the Sunday morning Primary Series or Half Primary Series class each
week constitutes the minimum practice hours required for successful
completion of the program.

Homework

There will be a variety of homework/self-study assignments throughout the program.

Who Should Apply

Yoga practitioners/teachers wishing to deepen their understanding and practice of yoga and those interested in becoming yoga teachers are welcomed to apply.
A consistent and regular practice of Hatha (ideally Ashtanga Vinyasa) yoga for at least one year’s duration is required as a prerequisite for this program.
If you are not currently practicing in the Mysore program at the shala with Jonathan it is recommended that you begin soon.
A Certificate of Achievement will be granted upon satisfactory completion of the program.

7.Are there any other trainings you’ve taken that you feel may be relevant to this one?

9.Describe any health issues you have, i.e. medical conditions, injuries, medications, surgeries, allergies, etc.

Investment

Total Tuition of Program - $3,000.00 + $150.00 (GST) = $3,150.00

Upon acceptance into the program a deposit of $750.00 is required to hold your space.

The balance $2,400.00 is due before or on the first day of the program.

Visa, Mastercard, debit, cash, cheque are accepted for payment. Cheques should be made payable to Winnipeg Yoga Shala.

The program will be limited to 14 participants. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received. Apply early.

There is no cost to submit an application.

Notification of acceptance will be given within two weeks of receipt of each application.

The cost of the program includes unlimited Mysore practice at the shala for the full dates of the training, the Winnipeg Yoga Shala Teacher Training Manual, as well as all required books.
